[DAC] viewing old 8mm/16mm films

Hi all:  I have a bunch of cans of old family films (I think that's  
what they are) that I'd like to view and decide which, if any, to  
transfer to DVD.
Naturally, I don't have the kind of film projector used during the  
prehistoric era in which these films were taken in order to view them.
Do any of you tech types or film types have ideas about how I can see  
what's on these rolls??  I think they're either 8 or 16mm but not  
even sure about that.

Please reply to me directly, not "reply all," if you have any advice  
or access to the proper machinery.
